Boomers are aging in place!

Can you believe that the boomers collectively have $75 trillion of wealth? According to Meredith Whitney, the “Oracle of Wall Street” this wealth is not distributed like one would think. Whitney has estimated that just one in 10 seniors can afford assisted-living facilities.

Those are grim statistics for the approximately 73 million boomers aging in the United States. If you are or have loved ones in this age group have you made plans for future care?

In home care for this population will be crucial. Seniors deserve to age with dignity, grace, love. and respect. Many have worked hard for homes they love and intent to stay there as long as possible, or till the end.

Although these conversations are sometimes difficult it is best to have these talks BEFORE care is needed. Know your loved ones wishes and their vision for aging. Knowing what options are available for your particular situation ahead of an emergency can make all the difference.

When you start to notice a decline in the home environment, difficulty completing daily tasks, unexplained weight loss or gain, forgetfulness, confusion, or decline in previous social activities it is time to start getting some help.
